I would like to give one big advice to all our couples after this Punta Cana wedding.
WETHER BIG OR SMALL, INDOOR OR OUTDOOR, MAKE THE DAY TRULY YOUR OWN. DON’T LET ANY ‘BUT’, ‘OR’, ‘WHAT IF’ GET IN THE WAY. LOVE FEARLESSLY AND LIVE FREELY. LIFE RARELY GIVES SECOND CHANCES.
This Jellyfish wedding was the best Punta Cana wedding ever. I love when our couples make this day their own without worrying about anything but each other . Risa and Ty’s wedding was non traditional and they decided to do what THEY wanted instead of what other people wanted them to do. There was no family, just friends, pizza instead of cake, no bouquet, a lot of shots and they danced like nobody. It rained, the wind was insane, a storm came but nothing could stop them from living it at the best. We laughed and cried. I clearly remember having that smile on my face for the whole 8 hours I was there.
I am sharing Risa’s advice and view of their day. If you are traditional, be traditional . But if you are not, just do what YOU want and what will make you two happy.
“ For us, our wedding was a day to celebrate us. Not our families, just us. Not that we don’t love our families. We absolutely do, and will be celebrating in full effect at home once this quarantine is over! But there are always opinions and asks when catering to family. And the most important part for us was to do it our way, without judgement, and to just be in love with every aspect of the day.
My biggest tip ( whether you have family present or not) is to do what YOU want and what will make YOU TWO happy. You guys are paying for it (unless you’re family chips in then I understand) but do what you feel is best to make you and your spouse have the best day ever. Far too many times I hear that the bride was stressed out dealing with the amount of people there, or trying to please everyone, or barely got a second to sit down and eat. A smaller destination with just our closest friends was the best way for us to experience the best parts of the day and have the best time.
There was zero stress. and no pressure. And it turned out perfect. You’ll get a LOT of judgement along the way. There will be people saying you should do this, or that, or how could you ever do it this way etc. But you have to tune it out if it’s to this something you really want.
We went a little bit of an untraditional route. But it was perfect for us. We’re not super super close with our families like some, and they really didn’t care about the ceremony aspect, so we did friends only. We aren’t really into sweets or sugar, but we do celebrate pizza sundays pretty much year round so decided to have pizza instead of cake. We didn’t do the bouquet toss or garter toss because for us there were really only couples there and we didn’t want to. All out the few singles actually there. We danced like nobody’s watching. Because for us, that was the way we wanted to enjoy the day. And we couldn’t have had a better more amazing time.
To this day, it’s truly the best day of our lives and we think back on it often. It was a once in a lifetime wedding, and went more perfectly than we could have dreamed! ” Risa
