We love everything about this amazing wedding at Altos de Chavon and their Urban shoot at Bayahibe. Not only Diana and Denis are a gorgeous couple with big hearts but we also got to capture their best friends ( Sasha and George) wedding 3 days after so we met almost the same people twice in a week. We were also thrilled to shoot again at the picturesque Altos de Chavon.
Denis and Diana first met at an athletic center in Coney Island where Denis was a karate coach and Diana was a gymnastic coach. Diana was assigned to be Denis’ assistant and help him to teach Gym as well. She was intimidated by Denis who she thought was an older, good looking “bad boy”. Denis on the other hand , saw Diana as shy, sweet girl, the kind that you settle down with. After almost 5 years of awkward conversation, Denis finally asked Diana on a date. The month that followed should have scared Diana away, from having him sneak her into a night club buying her a fake passport on their first date, to almost killing her by driving on the wrong side of the highway on their second date, to getting her her first summons from the police for trespassing on their third date. Instead, she was excited by this new adventure and Denis was just relieved he found a girl that was willing to go along for the crazy ride. The rest is history.
“The first vacation we ever took was to Dominican Republic. It was on one fateful night during that trip that we were laying in the sand under the stars, we looked into each other’ s eyes and we both knew that this love was real and we forever wanted to be together. After we got engaged, Denis wanted very much to get married there, however Diana wanted to get married in a church. After some research, we found Saint Stanislaus Church, which seemed too good to be true. It was in DR, it was Catholic and it was beautiful. To top it off, it was named after the patron saint of Poland (my grandfather’s name and father’s middle name) and was blessed by Pope John Paul II who was my family’s hero. When we went there to visit during our second trip to Dominican Republic, we stood breathless as we took in the old Mediterranean style town and the river below knowing at once that this was where we had to celebrate our marriage.
Sasha came to me with a few options for photographers in the area and after looking at each of their websites we both fell in love with PhotoSouvernir. Denis and I both agreed that the pictures looked genuine and not staged. The fun and love the couple was sharing was perfectly portrayed through the images. Once the big day came, Denis and I knew we had made the right decision. We were so pleased with the whole experience including the wedding and the trash the dress. You guys were so professional, but so fun and kind as well. I really felt like you took care of us throughout the whole process. We were both very nervous to take pictures because it doesn’t feel natural to us, but you made the atmosphere so relaxed it really helped us to enjoy ourselves. We especially loved that during moments such as the ceremony, the first dance, and other parts of the reception you were right there to capture everything, but we didn’t even notice. You let us be, and captured our special moments while giving us space and allowing us to be ourselves.
Here is the love story of this amazing couple. Thanks for trusting us to turn your moments into memories.
